John Mayer sure knows how to sniff out a photo opportunity.

The always-entertaining crooner was performing aboard his Mayercraft cruise ship as it sailed toward Cabo San Lucas on Saturday when a fan tossed a green, Borat-esque mankini—which happens to be one of Mayer's favorite bits of apparel—onstage.

Rather than ducking in horror as the clothing item made its way toward him, Mayer held it up to his nose to see if the gift passed the smell test.

Either that, or he was so overcome by the fan's generosity that he had to wipe his eyes and blow his nose with the garment. Those singer-songwriter types can get pretty emotional.
