Jessica Simpson grateful for Fan Support in Leather Pants
In her first performance since celebrity gossip sites went buck wild over a series of fat Jessica Simpson pictures, the 28-year-old strutted her stuff across a Virginia stage - wearing some skin-tight leather pants! - on Thursday night.
She lamented the celeb news world's "completely pointless" focus and said "Thank you for your support," to the Charlottesville crowd at the end of her set.
"Just stay positive, and pray out loud! I love you guys!"
With a majority of public opinion believing that her new, fuller figure is healthy, not fat, she can certainly stand tall. Don't know about the pants, though...
Simpson never specifically mentioned the buzz over her thicker frame or rumors that Tony Romo nailed some chick in her bed while she was out of town.
But the alleged singer and actress took a no-nonsense approach with black pants, V-neck T-shirt and a hip-length black jacket, and was outspoken.
"Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder," Jessica told the crowd. "So just appreciate."
Victory Movie Review
AVERAGE THOUGH HARMAN IS VICTORIOUS
Critic's I-view
Harman Baweja comes out victorious in his second movie titled 'Victory' though his debut 'Love Story 2050' had been a miserable one. The movie provides him a sigh of relief at a time when a look-alike of Hrithik Roshan as he was described earlier indeed succeeds in his family profession. This also lends him support at a time when the handsome boy has just recently lost his first love Priyanka Chopra. He need not despair though as he might make up his lost love with his second movie co-star, another pretty actress Amrita Rao.
Now, let's analyze the movie that is based on the game of cricket. Though Bollywood has had several movies in the past on sports, especially on this game of cricket in movies like 'Lagaan' and 'Iqbal', but it is claimed to be different. . While Aamir Khan's 'Lagaan' turned into stadiums during the penultimate cricket match in the film, 'Victory' revolves around a cricketer as to how he ascends, soon descends and later regains his lost form to turn a hero once again. Two, the movie has real life cricketers whereas other movies have actors turned cricketers.
The movie moves around Vijay Shekhawat played by Harman Baweja, who hails from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. No sooner he turns India's world-class batting sensation than he descends to the bottom and is thrown out of the Indian cricket team! Before he realizes his mistake, his father played by Anupam Kher suffers a paralytic attack. This does pain him and shakes his conscience. He makes it up by playing in the finals of the Champion's Trophy against Australia and wins the Trophy for India. Interestingly, he manages his way into the team through Team India's coach. Meanwhile, he falls a prey to Gulshan Grover who transforms him into a commercial wizard!
The USP of the movie is that the actor-cricketer plays along with top real cricketers from within India and outside. Besides, the hero in Harman learns cricket lessons for several months from cricket players to provide a true picture of the game to the audience, especially cricket fans. This may justify the producer Ajitpal Mangat's heavy expenditure on cricketers like Bret Lee, Mike Hussey, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Jayasurya, Ajantha Mendis, Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma and R P Singh. As a result, Harman single-handedly beats them all -- Australia, South Africa, England, Pakistan, in the movie.
While analyzing it critically we find the movie an average one. Though it is quite slow and boring in the beginning, but it strengthens later to shake up the audience in their chairs. By this time, Harman also gains confidence, and performs much better. Amrita Rao fares very well. Anupam Kher plays the father's role too well. Gulshan Grover is as effective as most often. Anu Malik's music is not very good though songs like Balla Utha and Money Money are good. Ajitpal Mangat succeeds as debut director, but fails in his screenplay. Cinematography is excellent though.

Luck By Chance Movie Review
FARHAN AKHTAR ROCKS ON AGAIN

This Friday opens with two Hindi films - 'Luck By Chance' and ' Victory'. The makers of both movies hail from two well-known families of Bollywood. So, there is no scope for going astray. While 'Luck By Chance' has Farhan Akhtar, son of Zaved Akhtar known for his witty filmi lyrics, 'Victory' has Harman Baweja, son of director/ producer Harry Baweja, as the lead cast. The heroes of both films are one movie old only.
So, these are their second movies. While Farhan Akhtar's debut 'Rock On' hit the box office in the recent past only, Harman's debut 'Love story of 2050' had flopped. Though Zoha Akhtar names her directorial debut as 'Luck By Chance', she doesn't believe in plain chance! She tries to depict the struggle of both the stars and the moviemakers. The lead characters played by Farhan Akhtar and Konkana Sen Sharma rise slowly but steadily into big players in the industry sheer by chance. This reflects the true picture of the film industry.
The story of 'Luck By Chance' centers on an aspiring actor Vikram (played by Farhan Akhtar). He leaves Delhi for Mumbai to earn name in films. On the other hand, Sona Mishra (played by Konkona Sen Sharma) hails from Kanpur, an industrial town of Uttar Pradesh, and reaches Mumbai to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress. She represents Bollywood's new actors who initially undergo a great struggle before bagging important roles. Thus, Zora conveys that every actor in films has to face such situations.
At the same time, a producer named Rommy Rolly played by none other than Rishi Kapoor, ventures into a new project with the cast-comprising film star Zafar Khan along with Nikki (Isha Sharvani), daughter of yesteryear actress Neena Walia played by Dimple Kapadia. No sooner Zafar exits than Vikram is selected to play the lead in Rolly's film. Though the movie shows double standards prevailing in the film industry yet it doesn't depict them in a bad way. This is evident from the fact that as and when Vikram's professional graph ascends his personal life descends and he loses his girlfriend Sona. In other words, when Sona loses her chance, Vikram gets lucky.
The movie's USP is its cameos, which go in sync with the script. Besides, Zoya provides several parody pieces on Bollywood clichés! Anand Subaya's editing is tight and the production design by Anuradha Parikh and the costumes by Arjun Bhasin and Aparna Chandra are perfect. Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good. The opening credit song is worth mention as it speaks about all those involved in the movie.
Zoya Akhtar succeeds in providing comic-but-credible characters. She has utilized the talent of each and every member of the cast. Isha Sharvani looks pretty. Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen Sharma are natural. Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia leave their impression as usual. Hrithik Roshan is decent in his extended special appearance.

‘Harry Potter’ Stunt Double Paralyzed?

David Holmes, 25, was rehearsing a flying scene involving an explosion when he plummeted to the ground.
He remained conscious but told crew members, "I can’t feel my legs.’ He was taken to hospital as fears grew that he had suffered a paralyzing back injury."
Holmes, a former competitive gymnast, has been rehearsing scenes for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows at the Leavesden film studios near Watford.
An explosion, which was part of the stunt, caused him to fall to the ground.
A source said, “It is thought he may have been caught by the explosion and hit the ground very hard.”
'Everyone is just hoping he makes a good recovery. It has come as a terrible shock.’
Holmes, who has worked as Radcliffe’s body double on all the Potter films, was initially taken to A&E at Watford General Hospital, but transferred to a specialist spinal injury hospital when the extent of his injuries became apparent.

RAAVAN happens to be Abhishek Bachchan's third movie with Mani Ratnam. And the actor seems to go that extra mile for the moviemaker every time.
In both YUVA and GURU, he worked hard to achieve the perfect look for the character. Abhishek's role in the films was quite appreciated, so we guess all that work did pay off.
And now, the actor is at it again. For his role in RAAVAN, Abhishek is on a strict diet and has been travelling, shooting for the movie, along with a personal trainer, Sameer Jora.
A source tells us, ''Abhishek is on a no-carb diet. And he's made sure that if he won't have carbs then other people in the unit won't either. So he doesn't let anyone have any sweets. But, he did eat a ladoo on the sly once.''

Environmental activist Erin Brokovich will air dash to Mumbai to present an award to Kareena Kapoor for her contribution to art and cinema in February.
For those not familiar with Erin, she is an American legal clerk and an environmentalist despite no formal education in law. Noted Hollywood actress Julia Roberts had played the title of Erin in the Hollywood flick ERIN BROKOVICH that had fetched Julia an award for the Best Actress.

Lately, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan have been getting along like a house on fire while shooting together for Vipul Shah's LONDON DREAMS. While the two actors had earlier starred together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, it was only after they signed their latest film that they started bonding on the film's sets.
But more than Salman and Ajay, it is the former's girlfriend Katrina who is benefiting the most from this newfound friendship. Consequently, Katrina has now signed Ajay Devgan's home production to be directed by Rohit Shetty.
Our source from the unit of LONDON DREAMS said, ''Earlier, Ajay and Salman had worked with Bhansali but they were not close friends. However, they got along famously during the London and Chandigarh schedule of LONDON DREAMS. After discovering that they quite enjoy each other's company, they started hanging out together after pack up every day. Often, they were spotted smoking together in between shots''
According to our source, Ajay and Salman often played pranks on the film's sets too. During the London schedule, they would also drink together in the evenings after pack up. Interestingly, when Salman stopped drinking during the Chandigarh schedule, he was often overheard telling Ajay about the ill-effects of drinking. What further impressed Ajay was that Salman completely abstained from alcohol even though it was bitterly cold in Chandigarh.
''In a way, signing Katrina for his next home production to be directed by Rohit Shetty seems like Ajay's gift to his new friend Salman. This will be the first time that Katrina will be doing a film opposite Ajay,'' added the source.
Ajay's home production also stars Sanjay Dutt and Fardeen Khan in lead roles. Katrina, Ajay and Rohit Shetty were unavailable for comment.

BLACK FRIDAY, NO SMOKING and now the B-town's much-in-news DEV D, seems like filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is forming an altogether new world of cinema. Going by the kind of work he has been doing all these years whether as a writer or director one thing is pretty clear that being unconventional and out of the ordinary is becoming his forte.
''I am not deliberately trying to be unconventional as you say. It's just that I do what I want to do, I do what excites me or for that matter whatever I feel excited with'', Anurag counters at once. He adds further, ''I get bored with the idea of doing that has been done before; also for me the process of filmmaking is equally important.''
So how does he manage to crack with such unique ideas? What's his source of inspiration? Is it the personal experiences or insights which incite him to be inventive each time? Smiles Anurag, ''I think some things come naturally to some people, so is the case with me. I look for the ideas in life, in and around me, that's the kind of filmmaker I am.''

Doesn't he think that this might render a negative image of Dev. D? With an energized tone asserts Anurag, ''That's exactly what this film is about, just because a person is self-destructing through alcohol or doing drug doesn't mean he is negative. That means he needs more emotional support from the society. The people should try to understand him rather declaring as a negative. The film is about the society more than the 3 characters, how it looks and judges people on the basis of their one mistake rather giving them a second chance. There are far more nasty people existing who are not alcoholic/drug addict. Society is a bunch of scared people''

As The Curious Case of Benjamin Button continues its awards campaign no one is hurting for a Brad Pitt interview, which means one thing—baby news!
The famous 45-year-old dad and domestic partner of Angelina Jolie sat down with the UK's Daily Telegraph and waxed on about the joy of his diverse brood.
"I look and there's our boy [Pax] from Vietnam and our daughter [Zahara] from Ethiopia and our girl [Shiloh] was born in Namibia, and our son is from Cambodia [Maddox], and they're brothers and sisters, man. They're brothers and sisters and it's a sight for elation," Pitt said.
And what about cherubic new babies Knox and Vivienne?
"One seemed simple, and it's just double the fun. It's surprising how soon their personalities have started emerging. But it's really important that everyone gets their individual time as well as group time together," said the proud papa.
And speaking of time, how do Pitt and Jolie get anything accomplished, with six kids and two blockbusting film careers?
"We were four before, and we got into our rhythms and it worked. Then someone new comes in, and it discombobulates the movements for a moment, but then you settle in again and it just all works," said Pitt.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: Box Office Showdown!
In a bizarre twist of movie-release scheduling, Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be in direct competition soon, because their upcoming movies are being released on the same day.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Pattinson's Little Ashes—in which the Twilight hunk plays surrealist painter Salvador Dali—and Stewart's comedy Adventureland—about an amusement-park employee who learns important life lessons from his work environment—will both be released on March 27.
And even though they're both making the big bucks these days, Pattinson, 22, and Stewart, 18, can't be happy about the fact that they'll be vying for the Twilight audience's movie-going dollar.
Hopefully this won't cause the castmates to be at each others' throats while filming the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon—which, coincidentally, begins filming in March.

Taylor Swift is promoting her record-breaking album Fearless in Toronto, Canada, this week.
Fearless is at its eighth week at the top of the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The album has sold more than 2.4 million copies.
Swift stopped into Canada's Much Music and also made an appearance on entertainment show eTalk in Toronto.
According to the Edmonton Journal, MuchMusic rarely features country arists so Swift, 19, is big enough to inspire a huge crossover audience.

Filming commenced this week on Mark Ruffalo's directorial debut, Sympathy for Delicious, in downtown Los Angeles.
But as the L.A. weather took a turn for the sunny, Sympathy star Orlando Bloom ditched his umbrella and stripped off his top.
Photographers snapped the 32-year-old British heartthrob on a break between scenes, talking on his cell phone.
Bloom, who plays a rock star in the movie, was in full bad-boy mode: Leather pants, jagged tattoos and a wild, untamed mane.

Is John Mayer Kissing Up to Another Woman?
Jennifer Aniston is currently starring opposite a loveable pooch in the box office smash Marley & Me, but it's her real-life boyfriend who just might wind up the doghouse.
Aniston, 39, reunited with John Mayer in October after the pair intially broke things off last August. They'd been dating for throughout the summer.
But now In Touch reports that 31-year-old rocker Mayer was seen smooching a knockout blonde at Santa Monica, California's Marix Tex Mex Restaurant on Wednesday.
“They were obviously on a date,” an insider tells the publication. "He came in with her another time, too, and I’ve seen them out together.”
But while it's expected that Mayer would likely have female friends in his inner circle, the source tells the mag that things were getting a bit heated with the two during their heated oceanside redezvous.
“He gave her a long kiss before they left,” the snitch adds. “John has been here six times in the last two weeks but never with Jen."
Of course, the timing couldn't be worse. Aniston's 40th birthday is on February 11, and rumors had Mayer looking to surprise her with an engagment ring.

So far, 2009 has definitely been kind to Revolutionary Road actress Kate Winslet. The 33-year-old won two Golden Globe Awards a few weeks back, has made the world squirm with jealousy over her super-close friendship with co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, and just had another fantastic week:
- Over the weekend, Kate was given the Montecito Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, which is handed to actors who have given signficant performances in their career.

- She's intelligent too! Her and hubby, director Sam Mendes, have a little trick they play on lady luck: they never fly on the same flight for the sake of their two kids, just in case the unthinkable ever happens!
Jessica Simpson's been keeping a low profile lately, playing second fiddle to her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. This week, however, was a hard one to swallow:

Jessica Simpson Thanks Fans for Support in Weight-Gate
Everyone seems to have weighed in on Jessica Simpson's recently expanded figure in the past few days, and last night during a concert in Charlottesville, Virginia, Simpson offered a little veiled commentary on the topic herself, People reports.
Simpson, 28, opened for country act Rascal Flatts at the University of Virginia's John Paul Jones Arena. In her first performance since unflattering photos of her performing at a chili cookoff in Florida sparked the Great Weight Debate, Tony Romo's gal thanked her fans for supporting her through the ordeal.
While not mentioning the photos in particular, Simpson—clad in skintight leather pants that seemed calculated to silence the haters—told the audience, "I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless."
Simpson went on to offer gratitude to her fans at the end of her set, stating, "Thank you for your support. Stay positive, and pray out loud! I love you guys, and goodnight."
Concert attendees were quick to come to Simpson's defense.
University of Virginia freshman Laura Tiezzi told the magazine, "She's obviously comfortable with herself to wear those leather pants."
Meanwhile, kindergarten teacher Debbie Stollings, 43, pleaded, "Good lord, give the woman a break, she looks great. It's mean. She looks more curvy, more womanly. She looks healthy. If Tony Romo's happy, everybody else need to be too."
Of course, that's assuming that Romo really is happy with the situation.
Jesse McCartney's a Stunt Man Now
Jesse McCartney sure is a trouper.
The singer and "Bleeding Love" songwriter was out in the California desert yesterday, shooting his latest video, and instead of having a stuntman handle the dirty work, he did the danger duties himself, leaping from car to car in an action-adventure frenzy.
Doesn't the 21-year-old know that a guy can get himself hurt that way?
Perhaps the fact that all his leaping eventually landed him on top of a video babe provided he necessary incentive for Jesse to take his life into his own hands.
Though McCartney took a tumble at one point, he didn't sustain any injuries, perhaps because he was jacked up on the sugar-free Red Bull that he quaffed during the shoot.
Hey, sometimes a guy has to take a risk or two in the name of his career. Especially if he has the kind of lofty goals that Jesse does.
Ali Lohan Is an Extraordinary Woman
Ali Lohan really seems to be coming into her own these days.
Though her acting career has so far gotten off to an awkward start, Lindsay Lohan's little sister and occasional shopping partner has turned out to be extraordinary. At least in the eyes of photographer Jonathan Ressler.
The 15-year-old bravely faced the cold January weather in a gown as she posed in New York's Times Square yesterday, participating in a photo-shoot for Ressler's 'Extraordinary Women' exhibit.
The project, Ressler explains, "is the result of working with inspiring and amazing women" and consists of portraits that "capture the extraordinary character of each of the subjects. Some of the subjects being poets, ballet dancers, actresses, artists, executives and teachers—these women come from all corners, each making her own mark on history."
It's uncertain which talent Lohan possesses that caused Ressler to include her in his collection. One thing's for sure, though—Ali's ability to endure the shenanigans of her relatives is enough to qualify her as extraordinary.
